DDE Password Reset Policy

Historically UGS assigned Direct Data Entry (DDE) User IDs to the provider or facility. Per the HIPAA legislation and a general concern for systems security, UGS changed its DDE User ID policy to assign IDs to specific individuals.

Effective April 2006, the Medicare Support Help Desk has been only resetting passwords when the user can be authenticated. On an interim basis the Medicare Support Help Desk staff has been resetting expired passwords for IDs assigned to facilities, and encouraging the user to submit an updated DDE User ID Accountability Agreement form to UGS.

Effective June 1, 2006 our Medicare Support Help Desk staff will not reset the password for old IDs registered to a provider. Users of these old IDs will have to complete and submit a UGS DDE User ID Accountability Agreement form to have the ID reassigned. These requests will be handled on a priority basis, but will still take several days to process.

If you have been using a DDE ID for several years AND have never submitted a DDE User ID Accountability Agreement form, or if you inherited an ID from another employee, you need to complete and file a form to ensure the continued uninterrupted use of your ID.

DDE User ID Accountability Agreement forms can be downloaded from the UGS EDI website .
