DDE User ID Password Rules

Please share this information within your organization, especially those associates with FISS DDE access and/or no internet access.

Effective Date: June 25, 2006

  1. Passwords must be 8 characters in length.
  2. At least one of the 8 characters must be alpha (a thru z).
  3. At least one of the 8 characters must be numeric (0 thru 9).
  4. At least one of the characters must contain one of these three special characters (@, #, $). To enter a special character, hold the 'shift' key and use the numbers located just below the 'F' (function) keys. DONOT use the numeric keypads.
    For the @ sign, hold the 'shift' key and press number 2;
    for the # sign, hold the 'shift' key and press number 3; or
    for the $ sign, hold the 'shift' key and press number 4.
  5. Passwords are only good for 60 days at which time the user will be prompted to change it.
  6. You have 3 attempts to enter a correct password before the ID is revoked by RACF.
  7. RACF retains a history of the last 12 passwords the user has used; these can not be reused.

Password examples: Friday$1; Fri@2day

In addition to enforcing the rules, DDE Users will not be allowed to change their password more than once per day. This change will not affect the Users until their next password expiration date occurs and needs to be changed.
